BAFTA Awards 2015: The Best (And Worst) Celebrity Hair and Makeup Looks on the Red Carpet

Léa is such a beauty chameleon, she can do edgy and quirky—and then turn around and blow us away with Hollywood glam. This look is all about her smooth, curled-under lob with a deep side part. The makeup is bold but fresh: red lips, defined lashes, a bit of subtle bronze shimmer on the lids and natural brows. She always gets it right!

Has Keira ever looked as beautiful as she does this red carpet season? Those pregnancy hormones are no joke! Here, she is mostly wowing me with her hairstyle—these big, glam “S” waves are so cool (although I see that one side is starting to fall!). I also love the tawny flush on her cheeks with matching lipstick and smudgy brown waterlines.

Amy is always one of my favourites, and I especially love seeing her hair straight for a change. It looks so shiny and healthy against the backdrop of her white dress. Her eye makeup is very clever. She did a metallic gold all the way around—which is softer than black, and makes her eyes sparkle. I also like the pinky-peach blush and lip gloss.

I’m obsessed with Gugu’s bright, balmy-textured pink lipstick. (Like I keep saying, the reason this particular shade of pink is so good is because it has a yellow undertone!) To go with it, she did tightlined eyes and an off-the-face updo. The only issue I have is with the concealer under her eyes, which looks too heavy and dry.

My favourite part of Dianna’s look is her updo. It’s got a lot of volume and texture but doesn’t seem too “done”—it just gives her dressy ensemble a cool, effortless vibe. Instead of predictable red lipstick and black liner, she chose a soft peach with charcoal shadow. Very nice!

Felicity did her signature beauty look of soft curtain bangs with subtle smokies and a pretty pale lip colour. One thing I’ve noticed about her is that she keeps her makeup really, really understated—no harsh or bright colours, nor strong lines—and yet, it still makes a big impact. Wish more celebs would adopt this philosophy!

First of all, this dress—va va voom! It looks great on her. I also like Reese’s makeup. There’s a cool juxtaposition between her smoky eyes with fluffy lashes and her bare-ish lips and skin. I’m just not loving the piecey hair and visible roots. 

Red on a redhead—how refreshing! But notice how Julianne didn’t do a red lipstick to match. Instead, she chose a softer berry, which was the perfect choice. I also love the sparkly eyeshadow, bold black liner and her fluffy, touchable take on vintage Hollywood waves.

Rosamund kept her makeup to a minimum with just some soft, tightlined eyes with a sheer, rosy blush and matching lip colour. It’s pretty, although I do admit to missing her juicy bright lipstick from the SAG Awards. As for her hair, I like the texture, but take a closer look at the ends. See the dents in it? I would think they’d be a bit smoother!

Monica brought some drama to this red carpet with her signature long, black hair parted straight down the middle. Rather than adding bold colour, she went with a metallic pink around her eyes and a matching soft pink lip. Long lashes and groomed brows are the finishing touch.

Holliday gave her bob a vintage spin with a face-framing “S” wave and curled-under ends. It’s a little stiff, but still cute. I’m glad that she didn’t go full retro with the makeup, though. Both her lips and eye makeup are in muted tones. I especially like that strawberry lipstick!

It’s hard to go wrong with this classic look: red lips, winged liner, brushed-up brows and hair scraped all the way back in an updo. I think Noomi nailed it. It doesn’t hurt that her skin is absolutely flawless.

Alice followed the exact same beauty formula as Noomi, except her lip is a a bit more matte and cooler-toned. I think it worked equally well here. Her skin glows, and notice how she isn’t wearing any detectable blush, to keep the focus on the mouth. 

Jenna reminds me a bit of Lily Collins—anyone else? They have the same delicate features and big, bold brows. For this look, I quite like her chunky lashes and softly flushed cheeks. However, the eyeliner in her waterlines is too harsh, and her bottom lip liner needs to be blended.
